Date Night?

Assalamualaikum wbt

Have you watched the movie Date Night? It was about how a married couple plan to go for a date was ruined. The movie reminded me about what happened to hubby and I when we went for our date too!
Of course, it was not as tragic or crazy as what happened in the movie. But I could see the resemblance though lol!

Ok, Mr. hubby has been busy off lately as his new working condition requires much of his time. He went for outstation quite often and no longer has the 'free' time like before. Basically, the routine is a total opposite of becoming a cikgu in sekolah, obviously. Keluar kerja as early as 6.30pm and arrives home around 6.15pm. Actually, that's quite ok if we are to compare with those who have to bear with heavy traffic everyday! As for me on the other hand, since I'm on my cuti, I always want to find ways to go out for jalan-jalan. (Note : bukan shopping, jalan-jalan sahaja). So, we went for a date night on last Friday (20/4/2012).

We went to E@Curve (previously known as Cineleisure) in Damansara and had our late dinner at Tony Roma's. Frankly speaking, I think the service was quite poor as compared to Mid Valley Tony Roma's! Can  you imagine, how can the main dish arrived before the appetizer? and later followed by the plates after we've been requesting them for several times??? Surprisingly, the food = a total disappointment, except for the salad.*grrrrrrrr* ok i shall skip this makan issue coz let bygone be bygone. Malas nak rasa sakit hati tu lagi.

Around 1030pm, as many shops have started to close, we made our move to the cark park. Suddenly................. Hubby noticed that one of the tyres was puntured! At first, I remained calmed knowing that the spare tyre will save the day. Unfortunately, as we checked the condition of the flat tyre, we realized that it's also flat! *oh pengsan*. I started sweating coz the heat at the cark park was warmer than usual (or maybe I'd started panicking!) Time tu memang doa banyak2 supaya janganla terbersalin time2 macam ni :(( .Nak minta tolong, ramai yg dah balik and I guess many assumed that we have the spare tyre to rely on. After a while, there was this peronda appeared and offered to help us. He brought the spare tyre to the nearest Petronas to pump it up. Thank you pakcik guard for being such responsible and considerate person. Alhamdulillah..

ini lah pakcik yg sgt baik hati!

With the unpleasant memories in Tony Roma's and the unforgetable incident at the cark park, no wonder la I kept comparing our condition with the ones in Date Night..haha. What a night!!!
Moral of the story (especially for all female drivers):
  • Check the condition of your spare tyre at least once a month
  • Do you know how to change the spare tyre? if your answer is 'No', you should learn to do it NOW especially with your own car

the screw was the culprit!
The spare tyre

Tayar yang rongak!

Luckily, I was with him, my hero of the night!!!

Perodua Viva ku

Assalamualaikum wbt

Today, I'm in the mood to talk about my Perodua Viva. From March until April this year, I've already spent more than RM 1,000 on my Viva! Bukan tambah spare part or accessories, but more on repairing. Seriously, I've been thinking for so many times, macam mana la orang lain pakai kereta besar nak maintain their own car.Bulan ini saja duit keluar macam air....

Some facts about my Viva
  • It is known as Baby-V
  • I started using it since mid year 2008 when I did my practical in SMK Hillcrest.
  • Mak subsidised half of the monthly payment until I got my first pay in 2009.
  • I chose black because black symbolises masculine and exclusivity. yeah right :p
  • It is super fuel efficient
  • It has travelled to many places such as Kedah, Penang, Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Pahang despite its small size.
After almost 4 years of using it, I began to realize that Baby-V is no longer as fit as before.Sedih ok!!
  • Power window for the other 3 doors are not functioning well except for the main door
Semalam hantar kereta ke Perodua Centre to fix few things; water coolant, wiring and spark plug. All in all the total cost was nearly RM 800 including thorough scanning. Pejam mata je la nak bayar sbb kalau tak repair sekarang bila lagi? lagi pon, the car needs to be in good condition sbb nak bawak hari-hari ke Rawang. Alhamdulillah, tak pernah pula stranded dekat highway Selayang-Templer-Rawang dalam 4 tahun ni *phew*

Bila dah jadi gitu gini, ramai dah berbunyi
  • "tak nak tukar kereta, ker?"
  • "Gaji dah naik takkan still pakai kereta yg sama?"
  • "Are u using Viva, still?"
  • "Ala, Viva je pun....." (kecil kereta ku, kecil lagi hati ku...sob sob sob)
Hahaha. it's easier said than done. I'm not the type of person who loves to change cars like changing clothes. Ukur baju di badan sendiri kut. In fact, I love my car so much! Senang nak parking, jimat minyak, senang nak cuci etc2. Lagipun, when we talk about our 1st car, it gives u such great memories. Beli time masih belajar dengan duit simpanan sendiri and I didn't rely on my parents to pay the down payment too.  Rasa sayang sgt nak tukar kereta macam tu saja.......biarla repair betul-betul and hopefully the performance and condition will be as good as before. Wallahualam, kita hanya mampu merancang Allah yang menentukan. Maybe when the right time comes, I'll get myself a new car but definitely not NOW.

kurma : buah or rempah?

Assalamualaikum wbt

Bekalan kurma dah nak habis, so memang perlu ditambah stok. As mentioned in my previous post, kurma gives us energy and essential nutrition during pregnancy. So I went to find it at Giant Batu Caves (coz it is the nearest to my place). Cari punya cari memang tak jumpa. Ikhtiar yang terakhir, approach je mana-mana pekerja Giant yang ade dekat situ...

Me : Dik, kurma dekat bahagian mana yer?
Pekerja Giant : Dekat lorong 23
Me : ok, terima kasih!

ok! I was looking for buah kurma, and the Giant worker assisted me to find the rempah kurma, lol!!Cakap je nak yang mana satu; Babas, Adabi, Alagappas etc..semuaa ada

 Moral of the story:
Be specific in asking question

I should rephrase my question:
Me: Dik , buah kurma dekat bahagian mana yer?

kurma vs rempah kurma

Pulut udang or pulut panggang

Assalamualaikum wbt

The local kueh above is known as pulut udang or pulut panggang. My favourite kueh, isn't it? well not really.
However, yesterday I had a strong craving for it. confirm mengidam la namanya kan hehe
I was informed bout the best pulut udang was in Keramat. So, apa lagi...dari gombak ku teruskan pencarian ke Keramat. Sampai saja dekat stallnya, nampak banyak sangat pulut panggang or pulut udang yang baru lepas dipanggang dan diletak dalam bekasnya.....whoaaaaaaa..

Me: Berapa satu?
Pacik: Satu 60 sen.
Me : (dalam hati) Mahal gilerrrr...kat guaq, kedah 4 ketul seringgit jer!
Me: Hurm, ok. Bagi sepuluh la
Pacik : 6 ringgit yer.
Me : Ok

After that, I only ate 2 ketul of pulut udang and that's it. The remaining 8 pieces were finished by abah, zetty and hubby. takpela, asalkan dah merasa jugakan hehe.
When mak got to know about this, she was quite shocked

Mak : Pulut udang kan berangin kalau di makan? Kalau mengandung jangan la makan makanan berangin...
Me : la lupa pulak...............

how to keep our room dust free?

Assalamualaikum wbt

Ok, I know my question is quite weird. But seriously, I really meant it! how to keep our room dust free?? I wonder why my room can get dusty easily. In fact, it is not even located next to a main road. I rarely open the window except in the morning and I will keep it close from afternoon onwards.

Once a week, I use vacuum cleaner and wet cloth to wipe off the dust but u know what? It will appear again few hours later. This so called dilemma has been annoyed us for quite sometime. And now, we've been thinking hard on how to resolve this issue especially before our lil one arrives in this world.  Kesian la kan kat baby kecil lagi tapi habuk bukan main banyak laaaaaaa....aisshhh..

Today, we got our room aircond serviced. The last time we had someone to do this was like a year ago!! haaa padan muka, bila air cond dah tak sejuk baru la nak cari org lain service pulak kan!  Bila dah tak sejuk baru la nak service. The first thing I noticed when the serviceman pulled out the filter was"Astaghfirullah.....BERHABUKNYA filter air cond ni!!" haih... isu habuk yg tak pernah selesai. I wonder if that is the main reason why my room gets dusty easily? Kita tunggu dan lihat...Seriously, kalau x berkesan juga xtahula camna nak buat lagi kan :((
usia air cond ni dah hampir 10 tahun tapi performance still man-TOP!

Kisah kunci spare

Assalamualaikum wbt

Last friday (13/4/2012) was my last day in school. I purposely take 2 weeks early just to prepare myself for labour.  Some might say that I should not take two weeks advance from the 90 days of cuti bersalin. Well, I think. I've made the right decision by starting my cuti early. For some of my colleagues, the school (SEGAR) is quite nearby with their home. In my case, I have to drive 30 minutes all the way from Gombak - Rawang every working days by using the same Gombak - Templer - Rawang highway. Since I'm teaching in the afternoon session, the journey back home is a bit challenging. Usually, the highway is quite dark (no lampu jalan) and the road is winding too! Teaching in the afternoon session means that you will go back after 6.45 pm. So by that time, memang dah senja . Bila dah nak magrib selalunya  jalan pun sangat gelap!! Bukan nak minta perkara yang tak diingini terjadi, tapi bila dah sarat banyak perkara perlu dititikberatkan terutama dari aspek keselamatan. What happened on last Friday was not related to the highway that I've been using but more to the car that I used on that day : hubby's car (-___-)

It so happened that I brought my hubby's spare key. (please take note : SPARE KEY).
Everything went well until... it was around 6.45 pm, masa keberangkatan pulang ke rumah.
NOTHING HAPPENED (no double blinks signal appeared from the signal light).
I dared not to take the risk, especially nak ikut highway Rawang- Templer - Gombak tu kan! kalau jadi apa-apa siapa nak berhenti tolong?? :(

Many teachers have tried to find the reset button but failed to do so! Pelik sebab tersorok dekat mana pon tak jumpa juga. Until it was around 730pm, Cikgu Nasir offered to change the battery for the remote of the car key. He went to one of the kedai jam in pekan Rawang and got the battery changed. Thank you cikgu Nasir!! Jasamu dikenang :)
On that time, there were only the guards, Pn Jannah (PK Petang), Cikgu Nasir , the stray dogs and I left in the school.

*phew*
Tapi bila mengenang nak balik ikut highway Templer-Gombak rasa macam risau sbb jalan confirm gelap :( Nevertheless, the journey back was smooth and I reached home safely around 8.30 pm. Alhamdulillah, syukur.

From what happened, I realized that my knowledge about cars is still lacking in many aspects. I need to be more aware of how car works and functions. I may be among hundreds of female drivers out there who are good in driving but have lack of knowledge about the vehicles. This has got to change! From now on, I will never take things for granted especially when it is related to car that I'm daily using. Bukan apa, xpernah terfikir masalah bateri remote kereta pon akan jadi masalah besar! Selama ini xpernah kalut nak tahu pasal reset button for alarm tp sekarang dah tau. hehee. Teringat pula pepatah,
sesal dulu pendapatan, sesal kemudian tiada gunanya...hmmm
